Fire donations total $95,000! Shelter Fire Benefit Raises $15,000 Approximately 150 friends of the animals came out Sunday, April 27, to remember the victims of the February 28 fire and to pay tribute to all the animals whose destinies bring them through the shelter doors. Thanks to donations, drawings for donated prizes and a silent auction, the money raised brings fire-related cash donations to $95,000! With that, the shelter can begin replacing the destroyed trailer, kennels and other equipment and supplies that were lost, as well as upgrade other areas of the shelter so the animals will have a safer place to stay until the new shelter is built. Four shelter videos, including two made immediately after the fire, were shown for the first time to the attendees. Watch for them to be added to the website soon. We are so grateful to everybody who has contributed to help us through the fire tragedy, and we thank Storm Entertainment for the use of their facility. Thanks, too, to the Temecula Valley Woman's Club, who is always ready and willing to help us whenever the need arises, for the $2000 check presented by Jeanette-Marie Bassi on their behalf. We look forward to making a shelter benefit an annual event. View photos of the event. |

AFV Animals Featured in Murrieta Student's Winning PTA Video Valerie Ferro, a 10-year-old student at Tovashal Elementary School in Murrieta, entered a PTA contest called "Reflections" last October. She created a video, part of which she shot at AFV, and won the contest at her school. She then went on to win at the Murrieta Valley Unified School District. Valerie's mom placed the video on You Tube where it was linked to by World News Network for an article they did. We
applaud Valerie's efforts "to make people aware of the terrible
plight of these animals and to try to help them." She is certainly
a talented young lady and we are proud to be part of her video! View Valerlie's video. |
